“This piece grew from cassettes found at a flea market. The physical effort put into preparing a mixtape is like hand-writing a letter. It means a moment cut out from the normal passage of time, like a fragment of a song, that will always be associated with a specific smell, place, person.”

Patryk Daszkiewicz is a print and audio artist from Poland. As a musician and sound artist, Patryk produces and performs under Demonszy (DMNSZ). He experiments with sound using artifacts from recording media; tape hiss, lossy compression and signals running through a no-input mixing desk. He co-founded a DIY publishing house in Poznan, HUBA Imprint, an initiative that combines various visual and sound activities by issuing limited series’ of zines, books, and tapes. Patryk’s residence is partly supported by a STEP Travel Grant, awarded by the European Cultural Foundation.
